This tour is perfect for those who want to visit Vietnam and see the main cities, spectacular sites and diverse geography but may be constrained by time. Vietnam at a Glance enables the traveller to still enjoy a relaxing yet comprehensive tour of Vietnam and take home many wonderful memories.

TOUR ITINERARY

DAYS 1-2: SOUTH AFRICA TO SAIGON

Fly overnight with Cathay Pacific to Saigon for a four night stay.

DAY 3: SAIGON - MEKONG DELTA

Visit the Mekong Delta, the heart of South Vietnam, dotted with rice paddies and fruit plantations. Take a boat trip to Thoi Son Island, where we walk through local markets and visit the Vinh Trang Pagoda. After lunch we return to Saigon.

DAY 4: SAIGON

Today we enjoy a full day city tour. Visit the Reunification Palace, War Remnants Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Cholon (Chinatown), Binh Tay Wholesale Market and Thien Hau Pagoda. We finish our day at Ben Thanh Market.

DAY 5: SAIGON - CU CHI & TAY NINH

This morning we explore the amazing network of the Cu Chi Tunnels led by a Cu Chi War Veteran who lived in the tunnels for years during the Vietnam War. We continue to Tay Ninh, where we experience the midday service at the head temple of the Cao Dai religion.

DAY 6: SAIGON TO HOI AN

Fly to Danang this morning and transfer to Hoi An, stopping at the Cham Museum, Marble Mountains and China Beach en route. The afternoon is free to soak up the atmosphere and visit the tailors for which this town is known.

DAY 7: HOI AN

Today we enjoy a walking tour of Hoi An. Visit an old merchant’s home, the Japanese Covered Bridge, Hoi An Market and a local Chinese temple.

DAY 8: HOI AN TO HUE

Drive over the scenic Hai Van Pass to Hue. Take a cyclo ride to the Imperial Citadel, continue by coach to Thien Mu Pagoda and enjoy a boat trip on the Perfume River. This evening we partake in a cooking class.

DAY 9: HUE TO HANOI

This morning we visit the UNESCO World Heritage listed Royal Tombs of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh before we transfer to the airport and fly to Hanoi. We enjoy a Water Puppets performance this evening.

DAY 10: HANOI

Today we visit Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum (closed Sep-Dec), Humble House on Stilts and One Pillar Pagoda. We then continue to the Temple of Literature and drive around Hoan Kiem Lake. Enjoy an afternoon walking tour of Hanoi’s Old Quarter.

DAY 11: HANOI - HALONG BAY

Travel to spectacular Halong Bay and board a junk boat for a relaxing cruise through the emerald waters and around the limestone islets of the Gulf of Tonkin. Enjoy the spectacular scenery whilst having lunch onboard. After our cruise we travel back to Hanoi.

Note: You may choose to leave the group today and stay overnight on a junk boat in Halong Bay, returning to Hanoi airport directly tomorrow afternoon.

DAY 12: DEPART HANOI

Enjoy a full day at leisure in Hanoi. After a late check-out we are transferred to the airport for our overnight flight to South Africa.

DAY 13: ARRIVE SOUTH AFRICA

Arrive home this morning.
