Nepal is equally as captivating; it features the greatest mountain range on earth, Mt. Everest. This beautiful mountain kingdom has remained unchanged for centuries. TOUR ITINERARY

 

DAYS 1-2: SOUTH AFRICA TO DELHI

Fly with Jet Airways to Delhi for a two night stay.

DAY 3: DELHI

Visit Old Delhi, see the Red Fort, walk through Chandni Chowk Bazaar to Jama Masjid and the Lakshmi Narayan Hindu Temple. After lunch view India Gate and also visit Gandhi Smriti and Qutab Minar.

DAY 4: DELHI TO UDAIPUR

Today we fly to Udaipur, a city of lakes, palaces and temples. The afternoon is free at your leisure.

DAY 5: UDAIPUR

This morning visit Sahelion Ki Bari Gardens, the Folk Museum and Mewar Art Gallery. We also visit the City Palace and walk through the local streets and shops. This afternoon we enjoy a relaxing cruise on Lake Pichola.

DAY 6: UDAIPUR TO JODHPUR

Today we leave Udaipur and drive to Jodhpur stopping at Ranakpur en route, the largest Jain temple complex in India.

DAY 7: JODHPUR

This morning we visit Meherangarh Fort and the museum located in the Umaid Bhawan Palace. Take an auto rickshaw ride to a local restaurant for lunch followed by a walking tour through Subji Mandi, the local vegetable and spice market.

DAY 8: JODHPUR TO JAIPUR

Today we leave Jodhpur and drive through the colourful countryside of Rajasthan to Jaipur. This afternoon we enjoy some shopping at the local bazaar in Choti Choper located inside the walled city.

DAY 9: JAIPUR

Start today’s touring with a photo stop at Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) before visiting the palace and fortress at Amer. This afternoon visit the City Palace and Jantar Mantar. This evening we enjoy a traditional dance performance and dinner.

DAY 10: JAIPUR TO RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARK

Leaving Jaipur we head south to Ranthambore National Park, one of the prime examples of Project Tiger’s conservation efforts in Rajasthan. Enjoy a canter safari around the park this afternoon.

DAY 11: RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARK

Enjoy a morning and afternoon canter safari around the game reserve with an estimated area of 400sq km.

DAY 12: RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARK TO AGRA

This morning we transfer to Ranthambore railway station to board our train to Bharatpur from where we drive to Agra stopping in the fortified ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri en route.

DAY 13: AGRA

Early this morning we view the Taj Mahal as the sun is rising. Later we visit a marble inlay workshop and Agra Fort.

DAY 14: AGRA TO KHAJURAHO

After breakfast we board the Shatabdi Express train to Jhansi. From here we continue by road to Khajuraho stopping in Orchha for lunch. Enjoy a cultural dancing show this evening.

DAY 15: KHAJURAHO TO VARANASI

Tour the Western Group of temples in Khajuraho. This afternoon fly to Varanasi. In the evening take a rickshaw ride to the ghats of the River Ganges to witness the Pooja ceremony of Ganga arti.

DAY 16: VARANASI

Take an early morning boat ride on the River Ganges followed by a city tour before visiting the Buddhist sites of Sarnath.

DAY 17: VARANASI TO KATHMANDU

Transfer to the airport for our flight to Kathmandu. The remainder of the day is at leisure to acclimatise to the altitude.

18 days india only:
Tour participants who do not wish to travel to Nepal leave the group in Varanasi on DAY 17 and fly to Delhi for an overnight stay. Departing Delhi on DAY 18, the morning is at leisure until a late check out, dinner and then you are transferred to Delhi airport. Arrive in South Africa the following day, DAY 19.

 

DAY 18: KATHMANDU - PATAN

This morning we visit the Dakshinkali Temple. Later we tour the second largest city in Nepal, Patan, including the UNESCO World Heritage listed former Royal Palace and Durbar Square.

DAY 19: KATHMANDU

Visit Durbar Square and the Kumari Temple this morning. Later we explore the Swayambhunath Stupa, Bodhnath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple. Enjoy an evening visit to Thamel Market.

DAY 20: KATHMANDU TO DHULIKHEL

This morning we drive to Dhulikhel, visiting Changu Narayan Temple en route. In Dhulikhel we visit typical Newari houses and a local market.

DAY 21: DHULIKHEL TO KATHMANDU

Enjoy the sunrise this morning before we leave Dhulikhel and drive back to Kathmandu. We visit the 9th-century-built town of Bhaktapur en route, including the Golden Gate at the Palace of 55 Windows. Enjoy local Nepalese dancing this evening.

DAY 22: DEPART KATHMANDU

Transfer to Kathmandu airport to board our overnight flight to South Africa.

DAY 23: ARRIVE SOUTH AFRICA

Arrive home this morning.
