TOUR ITINERARY

Days 1-2: Johannesburg to Shanghai 
Fly to Shanghai overnight. You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel for the next 2 nights.
 
Day 3: Shanghai
Visit the Shanghai Museum, the beautiful Yu Gardens, Old Town and the famous Bund. Also visit the restored area of Xintiandi and its 1920’s architectural style ‘shikumen’ buildings.
Our welcoming celebration will be a picturesque Huangpu River Cruise.
 
Day 4: Shanghai to Yangtze River Cruise
Enjoy the morning at leisure before transferring to the Victoria Prince cruise ship, sailing from Shanghai to Chongqing.
 
Day 5: Yangtze River Cruise to Nanjing
Enjoy a full day tour of Nanjing before returning to your ship and continuing your cruise up the Yangtze River. 
 
Day 6: Yangtze River Cruise to Mt Huang
Today’s program includes a shore excursion to Mt Huang (Yellow Mountain).  
 
Day 7: Yangtze River Cruise to Wuhan
Cruise to Wuhan and take a shore excursion to the Hubei Provincial Museum and other sights. 
 
Days 8-9: Yangtze River Cruise
Continue cruising today along the Yangtze River, upstream toward Yichang, arriving the following day. Visit the Three Gorges Dam and then sail through the Gezhou Dam.
 
Day 10: Yangtze River Cruise to Daning
Sail through Wu Gorge and take an excursion to the Daning River Small Gorges.
 
Day 11: Yangtze River Cruise to Fengdu 
Arrive early at Fengdu and take an early excursion to the “Ghost City”.
 
Day 12: Chongqing to Chengdu
Disembark this morning and transfer by coach to Chengdu, the capital of the Sichuan Province and renowned for its natural beauty as well as its popular and distinct cuisine. Our welcome dinner tonight will be a sumptuous Sichuan Banquet.
 
Days 13-14: Chengdu to Xian 
This morning visit the famous Panda Reserve to see these endearing animals being reared in wooded surroundings reminiscent of their natural habitat, before flying to Xian for two nights. In the evening enjoy a sumptuous Shui Jiao Banquet. On the following day view one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th Century – the Terracotta Warriors and the ancient City Wall. Complete the day with a performance of Tang Dynasty Dancing.
 
Day 15: Xian to Beijing
Fly to Beijing for the next 3 nights. Later visit the unique Temple of Heaven and in the evening enjoy a sample of the local delicacy ‘Peking Duck’.
 
Days 16-17: Beijing
Our first day of sightseeing includes a stroll through the famous Tiananmen Square, past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum and a visit to the treasure filled Forbidden City. Our evening entertainment will be a fascinating Chinese Acrobatic Show. On the following day enjoy an exciting walk on the Great Wall and a visit to the Summer Palace.
 
Days 18-19: Beijing to Johannesburg
Transfer to the airport for our flight back to South Africa. Arrive home the next day.
